HDR dramatically expands this range. It allows for much brighter highlights—like the glint of the sun on polished metal or the brilliant flash of an explosion—while simultaneously achieving deeper, inkier blacks. More importantly, HDR preserves incredible detail in both extremes. You can see the texture of clouds against a bright sky or the subtle nuances in the shadows of a dimly lit room. This results in an image with remarkable depth, realism, and pop that simply isn't possible with standard HD.
