The South Indian Hairy Puss Caterpillar is a relatively large insect, measuring up to 5-6 cm in length. Its body is covered in a thick layer of hair, which can be quite dense and gives the caterpillar a distinctive appearance. The hair is usually brown or reddish-brown in color, and the caterpillar's body is often covered in small, white or yellowish spots.

Historically, the South Indian Hairy Puśy was thought to be endemic to the island of Java in Indonesia. However, recent studies and camera trap surveys have confirmed the presence of this species in the Western Ghats mountain range of South India. These majestic cats inhabit the dense, tropical forests and grasslands of the region, where prey species such as small mammals, birds, and reptiles are abundant. south-indian-hairy-pusy
