Tamil Nadu, a state in southern India, is known for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, and diverse literary traditions. The city of Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital and the largest city in the state. While Chennai and other Tamil cities are often portrayed as thriving metropolises with a rich history and cultural attractions, there is another side to city life that is often overlooked – the darker, grittier aspects of urban living.
This study employs a qualitative approach, analyzing a selection of city Tamil dirty stories. The stories were chosen based on their relevance to the theme of city life and their representation of urban experiences. A thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns and motifs in the stories, focusing on aspects such as character development, plot structure, and language use.
The portrayal of mature themes in both Tamil cinema and literature has a significant impact on society and culture. These narratives can serve as reflections of societal issues, offering insights into problems that need attention. They can also act as catalysts for change, encouraging discussions on topics that are often considered sensitive or taboo.
