At its core, Granbo is a monster-collecting RPG that wears its influences proudly. The story follows a young boy named Kakeru who, on his 10th birthday, receives his first Granbo as a gift. A Granbo is a species of mechanical egg that can transform into various robotic animals through the use of "Data Balls". Shortly after receiving this gift, the city is attacked by an evil organization named Sky Shark (or Skyshock). When his new friend Shizuku is captured, Kakeru, alongside his mechanical partners, embarks on a journey to save her and stop the organization's ambitions.
