Reliving trauma in the public eye can be deeply destabilizing. Campaigns must provide survivors with robust psychological support and the freedom to step away from the spotlight at any time without guilt.

Awareness campaigns that ignore this do so at their peril. The #MeToo movement was not powered by graphs showing workplace harassment rates. It was powered by millions of discrete, terrifying, heroic two-word sentences: "Me too."

The public sharing of a survival story breaks this isolation. For the storyteller, it offers a mechanism to reclaim agency over a narrative that once rendered them powerless. For the audience, it provides a mirror. Hearing a peer say, "I experienced this, and I am still here," creates an immediate, empathetic bridge that clinical data cannot replicate.
