Technically referred to as , Eaglecraft X1.8 is a browser-based port of Minecraft: Java Edition version 1.8.8. Unlike the official game, which requires a paid license and a local installation, Eaglercraft runs entirely within your web browser. It was created using TeaVM, a tool that compiles Java code into JavaScript, alongside a custom-built OpenGL emulator developed by a community modder known as LAX1DUDE.

Keep the render distance between 2 and 6 chunks on low-end hardware or Chromebooks to stabilize the frame rate.

: Rather than interpreting Java in real-time, the project relies on TeaVM to compile Java bytecode into web-compatible JavaScript or WebAssembly (WASM-GC) ahead of schedule.
