This is purely a cosmetic database issue. The FA00 code triggers a specific hardware handshake that allows the OS to use the default USB Mass Storage Device driver (usually USBSTOR.SYS ). As a result, even when ChipGenius labels the controller as unknown, the drive generally remains functional for basic reading and writing. The issue arises only when the drive's partition table is corrupted or when low-level flashing (mass production) is required, at which point the driver must match the FA00 protocol, or the operation will fail.
Open AlcorMP.exe first. Let the interface initialize completely before plugging your USB drive into a native USB 2.0 port on the computer's motherboard. Avoid using front-panel case ports or unpowered external hubs.
Keeping the pins shorted, plug the USB drive into the computer.
