When you watch a horror movie, your brain is in a heightened state of alert. Processing subtitles requires a specific cognitive load: your eyes read the text, your brain translates it, and then you react to the visual.
The Hindi dub of James Wan’s masterpiece is considered the gold standard. The clapping scene ( "Clap... clap..." ) becomes infinitely more eerie when the Hindi voiceover goes silent, allowing the ambient sound to take over before the Hindi scream explodes.
