Stronghold: Crusader Extreme is an updated and expanded version of the 2002 classic, Stronghold: Crusader . However, describing it as merely an "expansion" would be a severe understatement. As lead designer Simon Bradbury explained, the driving force was a simple player request: "more troops". By leveraging advances in PC technology since the original's release, Firefly sought to push the game’s aging engine to its absolute breaking point.
