As a last resort, test with an official Icom OPC-478UC cable. | | Radio Not Recognized / Connection Fails | Radio is off, cable is not fully inserted, or the software is incompatible with your OS. | Ensure the radio is ON before starting. Securely insert the cable plug. Check Windows version compatibility (older software may require a 32-bit OS or a virtual machine). | | Software Crashes During Write | Power interruption to the radio or a loose cable connection. | This can permanently damage the radio. Use a fully charged battery or a stable power supply. Do not move or bump the cable during programming. | | Password Prompt on Read/Write | The radio is password-protected to prevent unauthorized programming. | You will need the correct password from the radio's owner or dealer. Without it, you cannot change the configuration. | | User Error Beeps or Odd Behavior | The radio may have a corrupted configuration due to a previous bad write. | Reload your saved, known-good configuration backup file into the software and perform a "Write" again. | | Verify the COM port in Device Manager
